Some of these promotion techniques may include article marketing, social bookmarking, forum posting, writing press releases, submitting your site to a number of search engines and directories, and blog posting; just to name a few. Most businesses don’t pay their own staff to perform these tasks and choose to outsource all their SEO and SEM tasks instead.
I am in the same boat as Rich (NOT.) I have spent so much time searching the Internet for some kind of viable online job for myself. I desperately need the money at this point. I am in the process of getting a divorce and could really use the $$. However, I am so limited on what I can do. I am not a “crafty” person. I can’t sew or paint or draw. I don’t write so writing a blog wouldn’t be something for me because not only can I not write, but I don’t have anything to write about. I do teach 8th grade technology so I am very comfortable with a computer. I have researched all of these so called make money “typing” or keyboarding but I have yet to find anything that pays more than a few cents for the job. Some of those types of jobs are on but you would have to spend an entire day doing those things to make $10 even. I wouldn’t turn it down, but I need to make $200 or more a month if any way possible. I would be open to any suggestions you have at this point.
If you upload photos of yourself, or friends/family with consent, it's worth going for the 'rights managed' licence option – otherwise you'll have little to no control over how your images are used (eg, you could star in an ad for haemorrhoid cream). See Alamy's page on understanding stock image licensing for more on the different types of licences.
Hey Nate, thanks for posting all of this information. I have been looking for a way to start my own online business and one day quit my 9-5 job. You have given some great advice and I think I’m about ready to start my online adventure. Quick question though, I’ve had a hard time coming up with a niche. Does Wealthy Affiliate offer any guidance for those of us that might be temporarily nicheless? Thanks!

Congrats to your husband on leaving his job to work at home with you! I don’t think you owe anyone an explanation as to how you make your money but I’m glad you shared this post with everyone because it’s inspiring to people who have similar goals 🙂 I’d like to increase my freelance writing income and maybe earn a little from my blog some day but like you said, it’s not extremely difficult but it just takes time and taking it one step at a time is how I avoid feeling overwhelmed with it all.
However, like anything else truly worthwhile, apps require a significant investment of your time or money upfront. If you don't have the skills, then you have to hire someone who can assist you in creating a great app. But first you need to come up with an idea that will sell. Do the proper market research and analytics to come up with the right app.
2. InboxDollars – InboxDollars is similar to Swagbucks, since you’re going to be taking surveys, shopping, etc., so if you want to maximize your return, sign up with both websites. They also offer a search engine that pays you (like Swagbucks) and you get $5 just for signing up.  I won’t continue to list survey sites one after another down the list, but if you want to get paid to take surveys, also check out GlobalTestMarket, E-Poll Surveys and Survey Club.
